Explore the Beauty of Rural East Devon
Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Glebe House is lucky enough to have both hilltops and headlands on her doorstep. Step outside and you will be pleasantly rewarded by the richly diverse East Devon countryside, an area largely unspoiled and off the well trodden track.
Just 3 miles down the road is the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site with its terracotta and cream colored cliffs that give way to remote under-cliff beaches on a long untamed coastline. From here you can take a picnic and explore sections of the famous South West Coastal Path. If you're feeling adventurous, take a boat out and try mackerel fishing or snorkel low reefs and rock pools to see crabs and starfish off picturesque fishing villages Beer and Branscombe.
Inland, roam through the ancient woodlands and marvel at medieval hill-forts. Find the largest tree in the southwest in Shute woods and explore majestic forests in the Iron Age hillfort Blackbury Camp.
On a rainy day, have a potter around the seaside town of Lyme Regis, with excellent restaurants, galleries and independent craft shops to while away an afternoon. Sidmouth, with its elegant Regency seafront and beautiful gardens, also makes for a wonderful day out.
Whether you're planning a walking holiday along the South West Coast Path, exploring the Jurassic Coast, or simply looking to slow down and reconnect with nature, Glebe House offers a peaceful place to return to. End the day with a seasonal supper from our Michelin Green Star restaurant, before waking to quiet views across the Coly Valley and doing it all again tomorrow.
There is a reason that they say 'Devon is heaven' and we look forward to showing you why.
